No Easy Road To Wembley

Barça are off to another European final at Wembley, the same place where they won their first ever European Cup (1992). But it was no easy task. In the group stage they had to deal with some tricky trips to Panathinaikos, Copenhagen and Rubin Kazan. Having qualified, they then faced a tough challenge from Arsenal. They had to bounce back at the Camp Nou (3-1) from first leg defeat at the Emirates (2-1).

In the quarter finals, they comfortably disposed of Shakhtar Donetsk in the first leg (5-1). But then, in the semi finals, they faced their traditional rivals Madrid. Their passing game triumphed at the Bernabéu (0-2) and a draw in front of a euphoric Camp Nou crowd ensured passage to the final. “We owe you one”, said Guardiola to the fans after losing to Inter last season. On May 28 at Wembley, he has the chance to make his promise come true.
